The last element in a citation will be information about the electronic format cited (PDF e-book; Kindle edition, etc.) or, for online publications, an electronic resource identifier such as a DOI (digital object identifier) or URL (uniform resource locator). DOIs are unique and permanent names assigned to an individual work that will resolve directly to the work regardless of changes in its online location. For this reason, DOIs are preferred to URLs.
